Who we are?

The Italian Wine Journal is the international online version of “Euposìa-La Rivista del Vino”: a magazine specializing in wine and food, founded in December 2002. Even its name (in Ancient Greek it means 'drinking well') reveals its 'mission': to help readers to get to know wine – and in particular Italian wine - better. We include features on the country’s various terroirs and the companies that produce the most interesting wines, as well as updates on the legislation governing the more than a hundred quality Denominations for wine and typical Italian food products.

We also focus on Italy’s best restaurants – our correspondents check in incognito what food, service and prices restaurateurs actually have to offer – and on the tourist destinations of greatest appeal for wine lovers and, more generally, all those with a passion for Il Bel Paese.

Among the major features of The Italian Wine Journal are our tastings: each week, our team tastes a series of wines blind. The best are then recommended to our readers. Our tasting staff has been working together since 2002 and its members have also been on the tasting panels of the Touring Club Italiano’s “Guida ai Vini Buoni d’Italia”, the Citadelles du Vins competition in Bordeaux, the   Concorso MondoMerlot in Aldeno, Trento, Verona Wine Top, the Pinot Grigio World Championship and various other events.

Every year The Italian Wine Journal and Euposia-La Rivista del Vino organize an International Challenge for Bottle-Fermented Sparkling Wines. This takes place in the autumn and draws hundreds of entries, including many Champagnes as well as sparklers from all over the world.

The Italian Wine Journal and Euposia-La Rivista del Vino - edited by Beppe Giuliano – are produced by ConTesto Editore Scarl, a cooperative of journalists which also publishes other journals with nationwide or Provincial distribution in Italy. Editor-in-Chief of these publications is Nicoletta Fattori.
